RapBeats Radio was born from below, there is no owner, we are all equal, each member has a different role. In fact, the BeatsRadio Association was created and is financed through donations, membership fees and private sponsors for individual programs that are aired. The radio starts as an element of a somewhat larger drawing thought by Sid (ex Aelle Magazine for those who are a bit old and remember) for the creation of courses to teach children and show all the work that can be done starting from Hip Hop. You needed a means to put into practice with internships what you had learned by applying it in the real world and the radio was the choice to do it because to achieve it you need many professionals who cover almost all the topics of the courses as well as being a timeless medium that continues to have a lot of followers.

The overall project is called “Getting busy” and needs at least a year to get started, it was thought that in the meantime the radio could go ahead first so as not to waste time and already have a base of listeners for when the project starts.

This is one of the two “taglines” (which would be the slogan under the logo), the other is “Only Bombs”, it wants to indicate the mission of the radio, that is to support the Hip Hop culture in its cultural and historical form preserving its founding values. The radio was not born to make money in this “golden” moment of rap but to react to the distortions that are seen/heard every day. This does not mean to be the Taliban of Hip Hop but only want to keep alive the legacy of the past always looking to the future.

The radio is the first to support all the new generations that, year after year, make Hip Hop evolve keeping it alive and always current. In any case we believe in the ecosystem and therefore we know that the commercial rap/trap has its own value in terms of path, so it is also necessary. In addition to music, there are also talk shows where we will talk about current and past rap and Hip Hop in Italy and around the world. Moments of reflection to deepen what is behind the glittering facade.

RapBeats Radio is a free online radio that you can listen to from PC/MAC and via apps for iPhone and Android.

Nowadays online radios are not second to FM/DAB radios, on the contrary they have the advantage that with an app they can be inside any mobile phone in the world and everyone has a mobile phone while they have a radio. In addition, the potential audience of the radio is certainly suitable to enjoy music through the mobile phone because in a main band between 15 and 30 years old.

RapBeats Radio does NOT only broadcast music. In this way it would not differ enough from streaming services that allow you to customize your playlists by creating “radios” that are impersonal and composed only of music. One of the most important factors of radios are the characters that animate them and bring affection and habit to the listener.

We decided to be didactic and misinterpretation-proof. A radio called RapBeats Radio (RapBeats all attached that otherwise Apple complains…) what kind of music will it broadcast? 🙂 …actually in France there is a radio called Sky Rock and it only broadcasts rap and R&B!

• 90% rap music divided into 60% Italian rap, 30% American rap, 10% French rap. In addition to music, no fear of much talked podcast style programs obviously at appropriate times.
• 10% R&B music closely related to rap both historically and musically.
• Programs in three languages: Italian, English, French, 80% Italian, 10% English and 10% French.
• Hip Hop rap music, all new and historical records, Italian, American and French. No preclusion on the songs of rappers of the new generations that have thickness, regardless of the subgenre, therefore also trap. No obviously commercial pieces regardless of the author(s). If a big name does a piece that sucks you ignore it. If a stranger makes a cool piece, you push it as far as you can.
• No song broadcast should ever be sponsored and broadcast just because you were paid to do so. This is a bit Taliban but it serves to give authority and therefore be more free in the choices because otherwise you risk the: “to me no but then that Yes because it pays you”.
• Jingles should be one of the characterizing elements of the radio. They must be creative and anyone who wants to make one will have the possibility to send them and, if approved, broadcast them during normal programming.

Assuming that 80% of the radio is spoken in Italian, the other languages serve to broaden the horizon a little bit and open up abroad but in a familiar and “guided” context. In addition, it should be specified that the radio’s headquarters will be in Lugano, Switzerland (multi-lingual country par excellence), but given the nature of the “cloud” of the radio, it will also be possible to broadcast from any other city in the world.

You will receive online your beautiful digital card that you will need to get a lot of advantages, at the moment, to prevent your question, we do not yet know which ones but more than anything else you will help us to continue the project allowing us to cover the costs. Okay, all very nice, but the money? Unfortunately none of us are rich, so the only way to start is to spend as little as possible, invest our time instead of money (which then the two things are not so different) and grow gradually thanks to these sources of income:

- Funding from public bodies, foundations.
- Private sponsors.
- Association membership.

Currently all collaborations are on a voluntary unpaid basis (but if you find a sponsor on your own you can keep 80% - read the next point to understand how it works) but as soon as it will be possible to move to phase 3, thanks to the first funding / membership fees and sponsors, these amounts will be redistributed to the collaborators according to their commitment.

Zero commercials that interrupt the flow of music or speech. No one is used to being interrupted anymore and the classic block of commercials that last a few minutes are absolutely counterproductive.

So we will focus on sponsors that cover an entire program (or more than one) with a short jingle that overlaps the theme song and between one song and another and in spoken programs the sponsor will be quoted by the speaker a bit like youtubers do, with an informal style, between one thing and another.

- Each program can have up to 2 sponsors
- Each program owner can find himself or herself a sponsor and keep 80% of the income. The 20% is paid to ensure the overall operation of the radio. The payment of the percentage is based on trust, whoever betrays it is automatically excluded from the radio.
- If the sponsor is found by the radio, the percentage is 50%. In this way, those who are a little stronger can help to pay even the weakest programs and the general maintenance of the radio. The sponsorship contracts will be available for consultation by all radio staff.

If you already have a company, a website or a social page you can offer us an equal partnership. You will provide your program with the agreed periodicity and length and within it you can also talk about your company/project as if it were sponsored. Obviously you can also use your program on your website or as a podcast leaving RapBeats Radio jingles inside. For the presentation of the program are valid the same requests as in the previous point.

Basically, each contributor uses their own hardware/software equipment and then sends the mp3 to the coordinator, which is loaded into the system. Each program must be ready to air and then include acronym, jingles and any sponsorship. There may be some exceptions to these constraints for some collaborators.

From phase 3 with the start of live broadcasts the pre-packaged programs to be prepared will be lower. Some of the collaborators who during phase 2 have recorded the program, if they want, will be able to offer it live.
